How correction or valuations done in VTU

At First the person who has prepared the question paper will prepare scheme of valuation (answer script). Then they'll give that scripts to the lecturers during valuation. Here is the major twist!! Your paper will not be valuated by the same subject teacher. For example, if you have written HMT paper, then it may or may not be valuated by the lecturer who has experience in that line. Sometimes it will be corrected by the one who teaches Manufacturing related subjects, or one who teaches CIM. Since a question can be answering more than 1 way, and that lecturer who valuated know the subject then you are safe. If not, though you have written correct final answer but by different method mentioned other than in scheme of valuation definitely he'll not look into it. He will straightly award the marks whichever he wants and trust me sometimes zero. Since it is Digital valuation, also he may scroll more than one page (this happened in my 3rd semester, i witnessed the same in the photocopy) thus even though you have written the answers correctly in that page, due to negligence you won't get.

Finally I would like to say, valuation in VTU is purely based on LUCK. One of my friends who is studying ECE got 72 marks in Microprocessor subject. As he got highest marks in that subject, college demanded his answer script thinking to keep that as model answer paper which would help their juniors and they got that. They were shocked because in the paper he has got 43 marks. But in final result he got 72. This is called LUCK. Even in some cases I've scene reversed scenario.

So my advice is that one should stick to the books prescribed by VTU. One doesn't need to write line by line from the book but make a mix of one's own words and occasionally include sentences from books.
